A purity pledge for the Party Of NO!You've certainly read about and heard from the people who are adamantly against anything that might be remotely associated with socialism. Interviews from the recent town halls and that not-so-big 9-12 march on Washington are plentiful, and sadly, none of these folks will be getting their MENSA credentials anytime soon.
So, it may be helpful for them to read, sign, and carry the pledge below so they can be sure not to use or otherwise get near these socialist programs, services and entities...
I, ________________________, do solemnly swear to uphold the principles of a socialist-free society and heretofore pledge my word that I shall strictly adhere to the following:
I will complain about the destruction of the 1st Amendment in this country, while I am duly being allowed to exercise my Right To Freedom of Speech.
I will complain about the destruction of my 2nd Amendment Rights in this country, while I am duly being allowed to brazenly brandish unconcealed firearms in public.
I will foreswear the time-honored principles of fairness, decency, and respect by screaming unintelligible gibberish regarding tyranny, Nazi-ism, and socialism at public town halls.
I pledge to eliminate all government intervention in my life. I will abstain from the use of and participation in any socialist goods and services including but not limited to the following:
Social Security
Medicare/Medicaid
State Children’s Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP)
Police, Fire, and Emergency Services
US Postal Service
Roads and Highways
Air Travel (regulated by that socialist FAA)
The US Railway System
Public Subways and Metro Systems
Public Bus and Lightrail Service
Highway Rest Areas
Sidewalks
All Government-Funded Local/State Projects
Public Water and Sewer Services (goodbye socialist toilet, shower, dishwasher, kitchen sink, outdoor hose!)
Public and State Universities and Colleges
Public Primary and Secondary Schools
Sesame Street
Publicly Funded Anti-Drug Use Education for Children
Public Museums
Libraries
Public Parks and Beaches
State and National Parks
Public Zoos
Unemployment Insurance
Municipal Garbage and Recycling Services
Treatment at Any Hospital or Clinic That Ever Received Funding From Local, State or Federal Government (pretty much all of them)
Medical Services and Medications That Were Created or Derived From Any Government Grant or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them)
Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions)
Use of the Internet, email, and networked computers, as the DoD's ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking
Foodstuffs, Meats, Produce and Crops That Were Grown With, Fed With, Raised With, or That Contain Inputs From Crops Grown With Government Subsidies
Clothing Made from Crops (e.g. cotton) That Were Grown With or That Contain Inputs From Government Subsidies
As a veteran of the government-run socialist US military, I will forego my VA benefits and insist on paying for my own medical care
I will not tour socialist government buildings like the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
I pledge to never take myself, my family, or my children on a tour of the following types of socialist locations, including but not limited to:
Smithsonian Institute, Museums such as the Air and Space Museum or Museum of Natural History
The socialist Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson Monuments
The government-operated Statue of Liberty
The Grand Canyon
The socialist World War II and Vietnam Veterans Memorials
The government-run socialist-propaganda location known as Arlington National Cemetery
All other public-funded socialist sites, whether it be in my state or in Washington, DC
I will urge my Members of Congress and the Senate to forego their government salary and government-provided healthcare.
I will oppose and condemn the government-funded and therefore socialist military of the United States of America.
I will boycott the products of socialist corporations such as GE, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Humana, FedEx, General Motors, Honeywell, and hundreds of others that are paid by our Nazi government to produce goods for our socialist army.
I will protest socialist security departments such as the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, TSA, Department of Justice and their socialist employees.
Upon reaching eligible retirement age, I will tear up my socialist Social Security checks.
Upon reaching age 65, I will forego Medicare and pay for my own private health insurance until I die.
SWORN ON A BIBLE AND SIGNED THIS DAY OF __________ IN THE YEAR ___.

The GOP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Corporate America. It allows Big Business to lie to and mislead the public. After all, lying to and misleading the public is the basis of the GOP's political and governmental phiosophy. Remember when George W. Bush's administration threatened to fire an official if he revealed the TRUE cost of their gift to Big Pharma, the Medicare prescription drug benefit? Or how the Iraq war would cost the US a maximum of $17 BILLION? That we would be greeted with flowers, as liberators?
And what of the chorus harping on deficit spending to try and repair the financial damage they engineered? Didn't Dick Cheney say Ronald Reagan proved deficits didn't matter? I guess he meant only GOP deficits caused by cutting taxes for the richest people in the country. (GW BUSH: ". . . the Haves and the Have Mores... my base.")
The American middle class has suffered stagnating and declining real income for almost three decades of GOP government. (There was a brief respite under Clinton: little gain but a brief stall in the decline.) Health care reform -- real reform, with a strong Public Option -- would be a small but welcome relief. It is no wonder that it is so vehemently opposed by those who wish the US to be divided into a plutocratic oligarchy ruling over a domestic third-world-class population. Then they could save the costs of shipping jobs overseas because American workers could be paid wages as low or lower than workers in developing nations.
When someone decries Class Warfare, remember: Class Warfare has been waged in the US from its beginning, from the TOP DOWN. When you hear loud objections to Socialism, remember: The opposite of Capitalism isn't Socialism or Communism. It is Laborism. Working people are the great majority in this country and form the real base of our democracy. In the words of Woody Guthrie, this is our country. The Capitalist is, by nature, opposed to democratic rule. The Capitalist feels the government exists to take care of him, not the people. And the GOP is completely captive to the Capitlaist. The Democrats may kowtow to him, also, but they do occasionally remember who elected them.
The Repuglican Party is a stain on this country. It has done more to damage our nation than any external enemy could even dream. How can people not see what the republican'ts are doing. They are in it for the money...bought and paid for by the insurance industry. There are many gullible people out there and some can easily be frightened by the republican'ts rhetoric and the insurance companies fearmongering. There's a special place in hell for those who oppress the poor while sucking up to the rich. It will be packed with republicans and peppered with a sprinkling of blue dog sell-outs.

You guys act like Medicare and Social Security are something that is bestowed on everyone once they reach a certain age.
It is - if you've been paying in to the system for all your adult life. It's not a freebie - it's something that most everyone has Fica and Medicare taxes with-held. Eventually, you receive benefits. Contributing is not voluntary. The deal with the government is - you pay in all your adult life - when you reach a certain age - you receive SS and medicare.
Not a freebie.

Actually, I'm registered unaffiliated. (That way, I get to vote for the lesser of two evils in the democratic primary. For some reason, Republicans running never have an opponent in the primary).
Most of the "socialistic" benefits listed in Rooster's "pledge" are things that I endorse heartily. I'm more than happy to have money that comes out of taxes I pay go towards most all of those things.
