Dog FightingDog fighting has been in the news recently with the accusations surrounding Michael Vick. What do you think about dog fighting? With the influx of Hispanics we will see more and more instances of cock fighting which is a huge sport in Latin America. Cock fighting is still legal in Louisiana and some of the US territories. Is cock fighting less cruel than dog fighting? |

Do you mean like football and boxing? I'm just kidding Kim. Those people choose to participate in those kind of things where the animals are either bred for it or forced to do it. I didn't know that cock fighting was legal in Louisiana. |

I doubt think any animal is " bred " for fighting/cock-fighting.
As for football/boxing, I see your point....but as humans, they have the right to choose whether or not they want to do so. Unlike the animals who are used for monetary value, or sport. |

I've heard some talk about the cock fights taking place out in the county. I know there was some dog fighting going on around here at one time. Just for the record I don't like it either Kim. | ||

Cock fighting is probably cheaper than dog fighting, cheaper to raise the bird.
On NC 33, between US 301 and Tarboro, there is an old store with a painting of cock fighting on the side of it and the words "sport of kings". On the other side is a painting of two guys chasing each other with rifles/shotguns. Just one of the sights of Edgecombe County. |

It just depends on the culture. Cock fighting and Bull fighting will always be a part of hispanic culture. I'm sure there are already some groups cock fighting around here. | ||

I witnessed the Okinawan version of bullfighting. It's not the same as the spanish/latino version. Basically two bulls are put into a ring and they fight each other until one stops fighting or is badly injured. They aren't killed that I know of, I believe if one does become critically injured they take care of it. | ||
