Failed Policy of Engagement
The Regime Can Kill The Reformers On The 4th Of July Thanks To President ObamaJune 23, 2009
By continuing to extend so called “hot dog diplomacy” to the regime, the Obama administration is offering the “Supreme Leader” of Iran a golden opportunity to save the regime and destroy the rebellion.
What message would it send to the people in the streets, and their supporters in established society, if they were to see members of the regime enjoying American barbecue with their American counterparts on the 4th of July? It will say to them, “Even the Americans are on our side. We are legitimate, we are in control of the State, and you are fcuked.”
Think it’s impossible? The Iranian regime would never meet directly with Americans, right? They would lose credibilty among their devoted if they were seen to be interacting or negotiating with the Great Satan.
But this might be the moment that the regime seizes on Obama’s golden and undeserved opportunity for dialogue, and breaks completely from convention by accepting the invitation.
Doing so would have the effect of changing the focus in Iran away from the protesters, and onto the diplomatic events between the arch enemies.
Doing so would legitimize the regime at the worst possible moment for the rebellion.
Doing so would buy the regime more time to fulfill its nuclear dreams.

Alternative? None suggested!
Oh wait, fly said sanctions. And how would this keep the regime from killing reformers?

You'll have to start keeping your 'facts' in context. Strong coordinated comprehensive sanctions were in reference to the regimes nuclear agenda. And they were to follow up with military insertion if necessary to stop them.
Now if you want to ask me about the regime's brutality of its own people and what our response should be then that is a totally different subject.

There are many numerous quotes to the same effect. Does it sound like Obama's schwarmy smile is going to win Ahmadinejad's cooperation away from his God chosen global jihadist mission? Nyet. There will have to be heavy crippling sanctions from all the western nations that effect even the innocent pro-west populace until they throw him out of power or assassinate him. Oops, did I say that? If that doesn't work in short order then yes we may need to stir a little chaos and carnage of our own on his own soil. God knows he has sponsored and exported enough of it to other nations killing Americans. |
So you actually didn't answer my question? Though it sounds like you did, and now you are flip-flopping.
Okay, so I ask you (again ), given the regime's brutality of its own people, what should our response be?
