HarborfestAnyone coming up for the 31st annual festival??? I wanted to go, but have to work. Los Lonely Boys and several other big names will be performing. I really wanted to see them....

It's a celebration of the waterfront in downtown Norfolk. At the same time, Portsmouth holds it annual Seawall Festival. It is BIG!!! Tall ships from around the world come to celebrate, and it is going on this weekend in downtown Norfolk & Portsmouth. There are vendors, exhibits, games, etc...and the FOOD!!!!! I wish I did NOT have to work!!!!! I'd be there, but so are thousands of people. The streets close to this, are all blocked off so parking is a tricky thing. Usually, in years past when I went, I'd park at one of the outbound lots they set up & ride the trolley into that part of Norfolk. If you go to the Virginia Pilot online, or WAVY TV 10, it will give you more info. I do not know how to post links. Sorry. Computer dummy here.

I'm fixin to have my own harborfest right here on the lake in about an hour. Got some Jimmy B, some rum and coke, ton of friends coming, and a designated driver...........what else could a man ask for?

You don't have the ships from all over the world, no free concerts, etc.....but, you also do not have to battle about a million people either! Today, Va. Beach looked like a freaking ghost town! Not much traffic, etc...so, Harborfest is to blame!

Did you go SLG? We didn't make it down there, but there was a large group from Halifax County that rode their motorcycles to P-Town. We told them to take the ferry over and miss the tunnel traffic. Heard it was another great time at Town Point Park.

No, I didn't get to go, due to the hours I worked, but a lot of my co-workers went, and they said this year was bigger (more people) and more to see & do. It would have been worth going for the free concerts alone!!!! I did see the fireworks all the way down at the oceanfront. Very impressive.
My mom and I went to the very first one, 31 years ago, which was nothing compared to what it is now.
The next BIG event up here is the Neptune Festival. I do dread this one, as this is at the oceanfront....but, I will survive!

Neptune Festival is usually around the first week Sept., but several years it was the 3rd or 4th week of Sept. I will try to find out who is lined up for the free concerts & get back with you.

Rock, I'm old. If we party, it is at Croc Rocks. We go home at 11 pm. Can't help you in the partying department anymore.
