QuestionI went with my mom to Rack Room Shoes earlier today and noticed there's some construction going on beside Harley Davidson. Anyone know what they're building there? I heard at one point we were getting a 10 screen theater in that area, but I'm not exactly sure.
Also, does anyone know how to get to the Roanoke Rapids Day Park?

the lake park you access via the dam off of oakwood avenue across from belmont elementary.
as for next door to harley- its a grocery store. farm fresh or harris teeter, im not sure which but one of them.

Can that area support Farm Fresh?? One was opened there years ago, and had to close due to low sales. I used to work in management at Farm Fresh, mainly up here. I like shopping there, but it IS more expensive than Food Lion. Is Winn-Dixie still there? They moved into the old Farm Fresh back in the early 1990's. Am sure it's not, as things have really changed down in Ro Rap!

Yea not sure how great an idea this is. Esp. with the big ass Wal-Mart grocery store right across the street and a less crowded, and cheaper, Food Lion just a few blocks away.

just seems odd....that area can't support SEVERAL different grocery stores, that's why Farm Fresh pulled out not 6 months after they opened the one on 10th street back in the early/mid 90's

Don't know where the 6 months came from but I worked at Farm Fresh on 10th street for 2 1/2 years, and it was also in the 80's because I left from there when my second daughter was born and she was born in 86. I can still tell you who the manager was and one of the Assitant managers is now the manager at Food Lion on Bowling Road and if I remember it wasn't because it wasn't supported that it left, it had something to do with the rent on the building and the owners not wanting to do anything to the building for the higher rent.

Perhaps with the expanding lake housing and homes at Cross Creek will help boost demand for a more upmarket supermarket.

msnightowl--when they moved into the place that Winn Dixie took over, didn't they (Farm Fresh) just come to Ro Rapids? At least that is what I was told, but then again, things I have been told have been so wrong! I didn't work at that one, I was in management up here at the Va. Beach stores.

The building they were in is indeed the one that Winn Dixie moved into, but before Winn DIxie, Farm Fresh Before both of those it had been occupied by TGY, and Krogers, after Krogers I don't remember what the name of the place was that went in there but it was like a warehouse grocery store, you had to ring your own groceries and bag them, that did not last long either. Krogers left for the same reason that Farm Fresh eventually left the owners didn't want to do anything to the building. And if you ever saw Winn DIxie before they went out of buisness you could believe it. It looked very run down, but Winn Dixie just didn't leave they closed all of their stores acorss North Carolina. But I do know Farm Fresh was here way longer than 6 months, I worked their I know at least 2 1/2 years. In fact one of the RIchard Petty cars were won at that store. A woman that works at Kapstone won that. WHich at the time was Champion.
