Did small face lift to the splash page (www.roanokerapidslife.com)
I didn't think there was enough people going from the splash page to the main news page, so you'll notice a menu that pops up in the main flash with two main links for main news page and Carolina Crossroads Central (C3)

You'll notice that the flash is gone from every page. Some pages have their own headers, most pages still have the default header.

I talked to some people in Raleigh today and when I told them I was from Roanoke Rapids they said they had seen the RRL website. I thought that was pretty cool.

That's awesome. How they might have come across it, I don't care. That's just awesome.

I dunno if anybody else has this issue, but I have seen it on RRL on multiple computers at work and at home all on IE 6-7 and Firefox and just tried it on my coworkers computer with Opera.
Basically what it is, and it really makes the site look horrible, is the length of the left side toolbar/menu boxes. They stick out too far to the right and it encroaches on the center text area. It does it in all screens too. Maybe yours just doesn't see it, but it REALLY detracts from the site. If you want a screenshot or something let me know.

It looks fine on my FireFox 2.0.

woah dude...how many other people are seeing this and what type of internet explorer are they using (opera, firefox, IE, netscape, etc.)
I don't see it on my computer or at work.

I found the problem, I think. I tried it on a few more computers around the office and determined it is a problem only with IE7 and Firefox/Opera. When I pull it up on computers with IE6, its just fine. In fact the guy that has Opera on his pulled it up on IE6 and it did just fine. So you have an issue with IE7 and Firefox/Opera browsers displaying incorrectly.
Try d/ling Firefox or Opera and see if it does the same thing I showed you.

Firefox is now working just fine. While its loading the page, it is first out of whack, but then as the page loads up, it adjusts.
IE7 is still fux0red.

Is anybody else using IE7 around here and noticed it? Have you tried updating to 7 G? You can uninstall back to 6 once your done diagnosing the problem. Its quite simple.

I'll have to ask around - I'll figure it out eventually.

Ah, I see the menu issue now. Took me a few minutes to figure it out.
But before I noticed that problem, I noticed that the Daily Herald links go to the wrong story...
|

The Herald links are coming from an RSS.
From what I can tell, when the herald posts a story online, the address changes when they archive it. And a new story appears in the old address.
I sort of alleviated the problem by creating the rollover, so you can read part of the story in a rollover. Not really a "fix".
What do you all think -- should it stay or go?

I think I fixed.

Finally fixed that damned overlap on the frontpage. Now the fading image isn't in front of the menu when the menu opens up (not related to the problem above).

Ok, for the people using IE7 -- tell me if that menu is still doing wierd things.

FINALLY! Looks great now on IE7. Now its not such an eyesore that I have to switch to Firefox to look at it. Thanks!

Anything to make the site better.

I could handle it, but with MS pushing the auto updates, many people are probably using IE7. And when they go to the site and its garbled up, I am afraid they would lose interest.

Not a problem, just let me know if anything else is coming up wrong on the site.

Another small facelift(s).
Added new headers to pages (browse around and see some of the new designs and pics)
Moved the search function to the top of the page. (looked out of place above the main menu)
Added copyright info on the bottom of the website for both RoanokeRapidsLife.com and VisitCarolinaCrossroads.com
