This is a great word-pictureIranians Detonate Reality Bomb
The seemingly stolen Iranian election (though by whom remains an open question) is a reality bomb that exploded in the faces of the Obama administration, and much of the Left. If this was a Chuck Jones classic, their faces would be blackened and hair blown back in a spiky mess, in the grand tradition of Daffy Duck or Wile E. Coyote.
After floating the fanciful notion that Obama’s outreach was remaking the Muslim world, they have been caught flat-footed:
A senior Obama administration official who did not want to be identified or quoted explained that the president was deeply conscious of appearing not to favor any side in the election. Officials had ruled out calling for a recount or a revote out of a concern for undermining the Iranian opposition. The official said it was important to have a policy toward Iran that advanced the administration’s desire for liberalization and human rights in Iran, not one that merely vented American outrage at Ahmadinejad.
Courageous Iranians face death in the streets for “reform” that was marginal at best, while Obama is trying to vote “present,” and the Euroweenie Union rolls over. The Germans have sounded a bigger alarm than the Man From Hopenchange. The US government refrains even from strong statements supporting free and fair elections, for fear of undermining the dissidents. This mode of thinking overlooks that Ahmadinejad’s thugocracy will deal with their opponents as they see fit, and blame the Great Satan whenever it suits them, regardless of what the US says or does. Indeed, Obama’s silence has not stopped Ahmadinejad from publicly planning a purge of his rivals . . .

So the answer is that we invade? Even the Iranians who are protesting the vote don't want that. What is the fly option?

What you have is a president, Ahmadinejad, who states he believes he is the muslim version of John the baptist. He believes he is to usher in the islamic messiah called the Madhi or "twelfth imam". Only one problem with that. The Madhi, according to shia tradition, will only come during a time of "global chaos and carnage". He believes he is to contribute and foster this chaos and carnage. That is why he supported Muqtada al sadr's "madhi army" in Iraq. They did every thing they could to undermine peace and security which would hinder the plan to pave the Mahi's coming.
At his first cabinet meeting, Ahmadinejad required every government minister to sign a statement pledging loyalty not to him but to the Madhi. He told his senior advisors in July 2005 that his mission was "the establishment of a global Islamic government, with the assistance of the Madhi".
Later, he began speaking of a specific time frame telling associates and even foreign ministers of islamic countries that he believed the end of the world was just two or three years away and that the way to hasten the coming of the Madhi was to annihilate two countries: Israel and the United States.
There are many numerous quotes to the same effect. Does it sound like Obama's schwarmy smile is going to win Ahmadinejad's cooperation away from his God chosen global jihadist mission? Nyet. There will have to be heavy crippling sanctions from all the western nations that effect even the innocent pro-west populace until they throw him out of power or assassinate him. Oops, did I say that? If that doesn't work in short order then yes we may need to stir a little chaos and carnage of our own on his own soil. God knows he has sponsored and exported enough of it to other nations killing Americans.

Thank you for not answering my question. So again, I ask, what is the fly option?
You say Obama is not taking the right action, yet don't say what the correct course of action is.

Other than your vague suggestions, (stir a little chaos and carnage) could you be more specific on what President Obama should say or do if sanctions don't work? Just what chaos and carnage would you stir and how much or little would it take for you to be happy with the results?

Enough to safeguard the American people. You got a problem with that? What am I, the defense secretary? They would need to attack those infrastructures that enable them to threaten the US and Israel and our western allies. It should be a concerted effort along with our allies. Civilians should be protected, of course, as much as possible. They are Americas #1 threat and a loose cannon. Iran sponsors terrorist all over the world and are responsible for the deaths of many of our service men and women in Iraq. The real question is . . . what would you do Outsider? Negotiate? They are not to be trusted, just like N. Korea. So, what's up doc?

Sorry fly, didn't notice your bit about sanctions. I think they are already working in that direction.

That' probably your best answer to the question with the intelligence you have. Since that's exactly what the president is doing, then maybe second guessing everything he is doing is just a waste of time.
Of course, they are not to be trusted. Guess our best bet is to trust our president will be looking out for the best interest of our country, by using good judgment before going off half cocked because some election went bad in another country. Our best bet is to build our strength and power while observing what is going on so that we will be in a position to act when it is required. We already know where going off half cocked will get us.
