Signing your name to a community based internet forum is not the smartest thing to do....I'd advise any of you, unless you don't care, to keep your identity a secret. We all have feelings and thoughts, and unless you tell who you are......you can always keep them guessing.
Let it be known, we don't care who you are or what you say, as long as you can back it up within reason.

You know it is easy to post whatever you want when you are in the closet. But if you put your name out you have to stand behind what you post most people can’t are want man up to this. I guess the closet is the best place for them to be. But being a bag head or a sports car only shows me that maybe they can’t come out for some reason or another. Ken....first of all, let me explain something to you, its your choice to release your identity if thats what you feel you need to do to get a point across, but don't try to twist others into doing it, please. Every person on here knows who I am as well as others on here, thats fine with me. Others here might like to get their opinions out on the street and keep their names out of the light. On the two or three forums in town, how many people do you know that use their real names....what 4 or 5 at the most???? Its really private matters and thats the way we like to keep it here on ro-rap, plain and simple. Some folks that post on here might not want to involve their family in things or friends, or what-ever the reason is.....it can cause hardships in the work place, amongst family and more. The best thing I can advise any of you all is to drop the identity thing and continue to post as usual and if it really bothers you to know who a person is, send them a PM and if they want you to know, they'll get back to you........don't make this an issue on this site, please.....we can resolve it rather quickly and easily.

Here's how I see it. If you want to post anonymous thats fine. If you want to post negative articles or opinions about public figures or decisions thats fine. But when you start with personal attacks about other members of a message board, even if you dont know that person, then wanting to remain anonymous doesn't hold water to me. If you want to call someone out by their real name or screen name a right wing nut, a religious zealot, a crazy chicken wanting lady, a racist, a tree hugger, a late term abortion doctor symphasizer or a bleeding heart welfare encouraging idiot then you should have the personal character to stand up and take the credit or criticism for your actions or in this case words.

I can agree with some of this JHO, but since the start of these online local forums, here and jimbo's site there has been lots of tension on identity, some don't mind folks knowing, but it is in the best interest of a few to remain unknown. I know you and you may remember me, I'm not sure....but if you didn't want your name out there, it wouldn't be right for me to release your identity either just to piss you off, now would it...thats the direction this was heading. I have even seen folks get accussed of posting stuff that had no idea these sites even exisited, thats where it can get bad, one case a guy actually got crawled by another one, turned out he was way wrong. Thats why its done on a private matter and screen names are used on about every forum world-wide rather than using your own real name.

The list goes on and on as why you do not use release your online info and use your real names on a forum. I guess some people only think about the minute they are living and having a good time. However, its just like shopping online, don't use your credit cards on certain sites, you know better, same rule here with names.

I can agree with most of that as well. Even though I do take some acceptations to parts of it. My screen name isn't really hard to figure out. I use it on most every message board I post on. If you know anything about me you can put a little thought into it and figure out who I'm, if not just ask I will tell it. I understand the hacking part, but I have enough confidence in the site that I dont believe that would be an issue, plus there are ways to see if the user actually made the post and I would think the admin here would clear up any hacking issue. I agree some dont need to have their identity known and those are not the hit and run posters on here and other places that dont want there name associated with their comments. They know who they are. Now I will honor the rules and request to be done with the issue if Y'all will let me LOL

One last thing LOL I think if someone is found for sure to be posting under multiple names, not only should the members be made aware of that fact and the screen names, but also if available their real names as well. I 'm a member of a couple of racing message boards that my 15yr old is also, we have had full disclosure from the beginning of our relationship and shared computers. For by willfully violating the trust of the members and the rules of the game they have given up their right to privacy. JMHO

Anybody else notice a VERY sudden influx of 27870 users migrating over here and all being quite hostile about this "if you don't use your real name online you're a coward" thing? What the heck is going on? This stinks of Jim. 
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the ONLY people online who bring up this stupid issue are people over 40 who really don't understand the internet, and probably never will. I'm not very concerned about any of their silly opinions, trust me. And I'm actually one of the ones who has released their identity!

There are some users of this forum who know who I am - the one's I have CHOSEN to let know who I am... The dfference between here and 27870.com is that we have a CHOICE to reveal who we are online or a CHOICE to remain anonymous if we desire to do so.
And JG now let's people post anonymously on his site after making such a big deal about people posting under their true identities...
