Sad news to hear...I had heard rumors of it this morning early and was later told it was true.
I hope the best for the employees and family she was related with, I understand she was a very nice person. Its really bad when things hit this close to home. |

could there be a connection?Last night about 2 am a ski masked man entered Jackpot Bingo and stood at the doorway and waved a gun around at the players. Never seen people hit the floor so fast. He snatched something, and ran out the door. Police responded almost before he got away. Don't know if he was caught or not. Someone inside is tipping the gangsters off, about who, what, where and when to hit. Just a few months ago, one lady hit a fairly large game, she put the money in her bingo bag. Within 10 minutes someone walked in talking on the phone, walked around a sec, then stood behind her a sec, grabbed her bag and ran. People are getting either very bold or crazy one. |

Ok, so now another source is telling me that the walmart and big lots stories were indeed wild rumors. Apparently the walmart one started when a police officer was in the walmart parking lot across from applebees looking for evidence, that somehow got turned into "there's a hostage situation in walmart and noone in allowed in or out.

I have actually heard from someone who was in Big Lots and states they were in the building when the robbery occurred around 4pm yesterday. How reliable this person is I don't know.
Thinking people just want attention for some reason. Also Sun - your avatar makes me sick feeling when I look at it. not the picture but the motion. |

Thats exacty why I don't post rumors.....I saw what you were saying as well Cure. He may as well jump in the lake before they release any info to him, they know exactly where its going to wind up in a matter of minutes.
But....you also have to think its still an ongoining investigation, so no news will be repoted to anyone until its over. However......I agree, something has got to be done about the activities here this year, its been a few of them (momocides/murders) already at half the year. |

Guess he must have been hungry, it was filled with stale food. Guess he was a little disappointed that the crack man would not exchange it for a rock for him. |

Another thug brother the state (taxpayers) will pay for the rest of their lives. NC needs an express lane to death row. I say.... take him right to the mall prking lot, hang him, and send him to his family in a cardboard box for them to burry. If the states don't start harder sentencing for criminals, we are in for a bad future. He has ruined the lives of several just bcause he wasn't satisified with getting his way......it really is a bad situation for her family, friends, and co-workers, and they will remember it for a long time while he sits up in prison knowing he'll be out in 20 years max to do more crime. | ||||

I remember seeing the statistics saying something like 90% of whites murdered are murdered by whites, and 95% of blacks murdered are murdered by blacks. Also, blacks are four times more likely to be murdered than whites. And chances of being murdered are lowest for white women, highest for black men. | ||||

I agree we need to take some action against the thugs, but as long as they aren't breaking the law, you can't do squat is what the police face day to day. As long as they are behaving, they have rights just as any common citizen that is honest as the day is long. The thing that really needs to be done is reversing society into thinking that being a "thug" is not a cool thing. But as long as we cut on the TV and kids see the bad guy winning in movies, thug rappers making it big in music, and drug dealing thugs driving hummers, look for it to continue.
Support your local police in what-ever way you can, its the only choice you have. |

I agree, it's a culture thing. We can't become a police state and just arrest everyone we think looks like they might be a criminal. This tragedy just reflects a huge flaw in a certain sector of young culture, the idea that being a 'gangsta' is a badge of honor, not disgrace. |

You know what you do? You put pressure on them. There are guns and drugs. You bring in or train up a task force and you patrol and nearly harrass them until something pops out. Either they will leave because of the incessant heat or they will strike out in which case you use the Powell Doctrine of overwhelming force. These are criminals that are consolidating their power to influence youth and rule the 'streets'. Pressure, pressure, pressure. If the police would be more proactive and less a cleanup crew after the crime, citizens in those neighborhoods will help assist with information. Enforce no loitering laws. Search them regularly and often if they so much as cross the yellow line.
It is time to get tough before they spark a competition of a rival gang to want media attention and the reputation that goes with it. Crack down in the schools hard for any hint of wearing colors. There is alot that can be done if the agencies will work together. If that doesn't work, well, there is always the Charles Bronson/Dirty Harry strategy. Guaranteed to work. |

Jim doesn't realize that rap music is a product of a culture. Rappers speak about what they see in their community. Banning the music would not make the problem go away. I'm personally not a big fan of rap music, but it is not the root of the problem, merely a symptom. Why is there no more personal responsibility? Why can't a kid just be bad, or make a bad choice? Why does it have to be from music, movies, or games? I've played violent games since I was in middle school, as well as nonviolent ones. A good gaming experience does not have to revolve around a violent storyline. Colonization, Civilization, Simcity and Flight Simulator are not very violent and games I have spent tons of time playing. They are good examples of games that can be done with little to no violence. But why should we limit ourselves to games like that? Violence is present in most strategy games, to some extent, and extreme in many FPS games. Should we have never seen Wolfenstein 3D, Call of Duty, Doom, X-COM, Fallout, World of Warcraft, GTA, etc? Why should we limit creativity? All of the Pixar line of movies are pretty much nonviolent. But does that mean that we should only have movies like that, while ignoring great movies like Gladiator, Gran Turino, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan and many more? These films are masterpieces, yet we should ban them because some idiot thug stabbed his boss? Maybe people should just raise their children and filter this for them, instead of relying on big brother to do it for us. I'm not sure how its so hard. I have two kids who love to play games, watch movies, etc. They don't watch anything more than PG rated, and as parents we do not listen to harsh music or use foul language around them. I scrutinize every game purchase and movie selection to see why it got its rating. Whats so difficult about that? Why does Jim, and others, bemoan government intervention into other aspects of our life, yet apparently are open to stomping all over Free Speech and the freedom of choice. He is the kind of Republican that I despise; the morality police. I'm very fiscally conservative, but can we all just choose to do our own thing? Why do you have to enforce your values on me? I'm a Christian who attends church and tries to abide by Jesus's teachings. I'm certainly not perfect, but I don't feel I have any right to impose my beliefs on SAR, Cure, or anybody else here. What gives you the right to do so Jim? How are you so much better than everybody else? |
